The Montgomery Ward editors described the "Ward's Base Stealer" this way:

Sprint shank model. Uppers good weight black calfskin. Outside eyelets and top facings. Leather lined heel and forepart. Oak leather foresole and heel taps. Soft pliable shank attached with three rivets. Steel plates between soles. Strong steel spikes. A remarkable value at this low price.
